Jordan F1 Car To Run at Mondello as BOSS Ireland Compete for Leinster Trophy
BOSS Ireland (Big Open Single Seaters) today announced details of the Leinster Trophy race meeting at Mondello Park on September 17/18.
For the first time, the class will compete for the famous Leinster Trophy, one of the most prestigious prizes in Irish Motor racing.
Over 20 cars will compete for the trophy on the Sunday afternoon, with all the action covered live on Mondello.tv The list includes some of the fastest Irish drivers, former Leinster Trophy winners Barry Rabbitt and Stephen Daly amongst them. They will face former multiple champion Paul Dagg in a Dallara Formula 3 car and Hillclimb Champion Sylvie Mullins in a Formula 1-engined Gould chassis as well as Jonathan Fildes in his spectacularly driven Ralt Formula Atlantic. As part of the entertainment on the day, BOSS Ireland’s Dan Daly will demonstrate his ex Rubens Barrichello Jordan Formula 1 car, the first time a Jordan has run at Mondello Park since 1999.

BOSS Ireland (Big Open Single Seaters) is Ireland’s fastest racing class. It is a formula pretty much free of technical regualtions and open to any single seater or open topped sportscar. Some of the quicker cars run F1 engines whilst in the 2000cc class (BOSS2), there are many Formula Renault car and on occasion they are capable of challenging the bigger cars for outright wins.

About The Leinster Trophy:
The Leinster Trophy is one of the most famous trophies in Irish Motorsport. First awarded in 1934, when Fay Taylor won driving an Adler, the list of winners includes many drivers who subsequently went on to star in Formula 1. These include Eddie Jordan, Mika Hakkinen and of course Ayrton Senna, who claimed the trophy at Mondello Park back in 1982. The Leinster Motor Club award the trophy to a class every year at their September meeting at Mondello Park and for the first time, the BOSS Ireland class have the honour of competing for it in 2016.
